Barry Miller

Barry Miller started playing drums in 1962. He started Scottish drumming in 1977 with the Caledonian Pipe Band in Cincinnati, then moved to Lexington in 1979 where he joined the Lexington Pipe Band (now the William Sutherland Reid Pipes & Drums) and played there until 1999. He then joined the Nashville Pipe Band where he was heavily influenced by Roy Barbee & Carol Davis on snare and bass drum.

With their influence and the memory of Carol, he was motivated to start the Kentucky United Pipes & Drums with the help of many fine folks including Will Young, Rick Clayburn and Ross DeAeth. He plans to make KUPD his "last band".

Barry lives in Lexington with wife Nancy and they have one daughter Heidi. Nancy and Heidi join Barry in his love of the Scottish culture by being involved in Highland Dancing.
